NEW: Fundamentals of Dragon Art Seminar

The United States Dragon & Lion Dance Federation is excited to host their first Fundamentals of Dragon Art Seminar!

March 27th through the 29th the USDLDF will be hosting an amazing seminar with renowned Master Ek Eng Guan of Singapore. He will be sharing the fundamentals of his Dragon Art to all attendees!

About the Instructor:

Since 1989 Master Ek has been promoting the Chinese cultural tradition of dragon dance with the intention of passing down the art to the next generation. For the last 35 years he has travelled all around the world to exchange, teach, and give seminars on dragon dance all around the world. Countries he has taught in include Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Germany, USA, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The seminar will cover:

• Dragon-handling basics
• Foundational movements of dragon dance
• Basic beats and rhythms for dragon dance percussion
• Harmonizing the dragon movements with music
• Composition of competition taolu

These topics will be covered in both theory and practice, and the focus will be on teaching participants the basics of the art. The seminar is for all levels. Keep in mind that prior knowledge and/or experience in the art of dragon dance is preferred but not necessary to attend this event.

COURSE TIMES:

• Friday, March 27th: 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
• Saturday, March 28th: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Sunday, March 29th: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

NOTES:

• There will be small breaks during practice as well as lunch breaks on both Saturday and Sunday.
• Each day will start on time please do not be late out of respect for Master Ek and the other attendees.

• Materials will all be in English as well as the language the course will be taught in.

Video Policy: No full video recordings will be allowed. Short clips, that are less than 1 minute in duration, are fine for use in content creation and social media purposes.
